The Citadels are a 5-piece band producing energetic, electic and original music. Their sound is based on strong congo percussions and soaring bass that anchor acoustic guitar rhythms.
Their songs combine a lyrical abundance, performed with distinctive vocal harmonies overall producing a layered and lingerinq effect.
They started out in September'97 when Cormac 0 Caoimh was learning classical guitar. Along with Natalie Vereker they began playing as The Citadels. Their acoustically based music began generating interest as they played various venues like The Lobby Bar, Cork, DeBarras in Clonakilty, and were finalists in the 96fm Battle of the Bands.
Fergal O'Leary then joined them adding more fullness and depth to the layered harmonies with his bass.
The next two additions were Arthur on keyboards and Barry on drums, who completed the line up and built on their already unique sound.
